La Salle 55, Overbrook 31

  The Explorers received 20 points from Tom Gola and limited 'Brook to one field goal in a 27-5 first half while winning their
third City Title in five years. Charlie Mohr's tip-in began a 17-0 run that gave La Salle a 21-4 lead. Fran "Wacky" O'Hara
added 11 points. Jackie Moore (12) led Overbrook.

  Bill Johnson (20 points) and Jasper Brown (18) paced West, which scored the final seven points in the last 0:55. Rudy Miles (19) topped Dobbins, making its first postseason appearance.

Overbrook 55, West 45
  Jackie Moore scored 21 points while Gene Avella and Bob Alper added 10 apiece. Bill Showell had 14 points for West.
Central 44, Franklin 29
  Carl Hopfinger (14 points) led the way as Central used a 16-point run to storm back from a 24-16 deficit early in the third quarter. Franklin had never been in the playoffs.

Jackie Moore and Bob Alper scored 10 points apiece and 'Brook withstood a late-game assault by Central's Howie Landa. Landa scored 17 points, an effort highlighted by a hook shot and layup that drew Central within 45-44. At 0:06, he took a set shot that rolled around the rim twice before falling out.

  Tom Gola collected 14 of his 22 points in a 22-14 first half and Fran ‘‘Wacky’’ O’Hara (13) shot 5-for-5 at the line to raise his season’s markmanship to 60-for-67. Connie Miller was out because of illness. Ned Hogan (14) paced West.
South 48, North 42
 
Dennis Collins scored 17 points and nailed a pair of one-handers as South left behind a 41-41 tie. Wearing a patch over his left eye in the aftermath of an injury several weeks earlier, John Lavin was used sporadically. John Rauchut (14) and Charles Kullman (12) led North.

Tom Gola scored 14 points as the Explorers (23-0) extended their winning streak to 24 games and captured their third title in five years. John Kane added seven points. No one scored in double figures for South.

Haverford School (11-1)
  In Game No. 11, Bill Crowell hit four consecutive shots en route to 21 points in a clinching, 54-22 destruction of Friends’ Central. The Fords finished at 22-1 overall when they clipped host Episcopal, 39-24, behind George Lemmon’s 13 points. Malvern placed second (9-3) in its debut season and Charles "Jerry" Kehoe tied the league scoring record with a 40-point outburst against Academy of the New Church. Haverford’s Fred Gieg had scored 40 in a 1949 game.
