  Ballhandler Bobby Jones scored 21 points to lead 'Brook, which trailed just once, 2-0. Wayne Hightower chipped in with 14
points. Larry Sarafinas (14) and Joe "Zeke" Zawacki (12) paced North, which was attempting to win its fourth consecutive City
Title in a major sport after capturing basketball and baseball in the 1955-56 school year and football in the 1956-57 school year.

  Wayne Hightower led the way with 26 points and 20 rebounds. Franklin’s Jimmy May, the PL’s leading scorer (28.1 ppg.), missed 17 consecutive shots and finished 4-for-32 for 12 points.
Lincoln 70, Edison 59
  Fred Schmidt (30 points), Bruce Fleming (21) and Bruce Drysdale (13) paced the win. George Timbers (18) and Ben Ellis (14) led Edison, which began the season as Northeast before that school moved from 8th and Lehigh to Cottman and Algon.

Wayne Hightower scored 24 points and Bobby Jones added 21 as 'Brook rolled. Fred Schmidt scored 24 points for Lincoln, but Bruce Fleming was limited to six by severe foul trouble.

Joe ‘‘Zeke’’ Zawacki scored all 15 of his points in the second half as the Falcons twice built leads of 15 points. Larry Sarafinas added 14 points. Ray Brown (20) and Bob Dickey (12) paced West, which was alive until committing a turnover with 0:22 left.
La Salle 48, Neumann 40
 
Rich Amejka and Jerry Cosgrove split 28 points for La Salle, which coasted to a 34-20 lead after three quarters. Andy Terifay (16) led Neumann.

Baskets by Ed Rotz, Tom Samulewicz (10 points), Joe "Zeke" Zawacki and Larry Sarafinas enabled North to turn an 18-14 deficit into a 22-18 edge. La Salle received 12 points from Jerry Cosgrove and 10 from George Bauder, but drew no closer than four in the final quarter.

  The clincher came in Game No. 9, a 47-46 squeaker over host Malvern. Jerry Aldrich (15) and Don Shaffer (14) led the way and Olin West hit the winning basket with 0:28 left. The Fords scored seven of the last nine points. In their finale, the Fords were upset by host Episcopal, 44-42, despite Shaffer’s 18 points. The No. 2 spot went to Malvern (8-2).
