  Romie Thomas (16) and sub Lynn Greer (12) scored in double figures while center Bob Peterson totaled eight points, eight
boards and nine assists. Greer had consecutive baskets to spark a 10-0 run that lifted the Inventors into a 50-44 lead. Jim
O'Brien (18) and Mike Bantom (12 rebounds) led Roman, which shot 15-for-75 from the floor and 24-for-42 at the line.

  The Inventors zipped to an 11-1 lead and finished with 51 percent shooting from the floor. Romie Thomas scored 25 points while Dennis Mathews totaled 21 points and 15 rebounds. Gratz soph Joe Anderson had 20 points, 13 rebounds.
At Roxborough
Southern 53, Overbrook 50
  Six-11 junior Roland “Tree” Grant collected 25 points and 15 rebounds. Elgren Green added 17 points, 10 rebounds. Two late steals by Jeff Gubernick led to a field goal by Green and two free throws by Gubernick to provide a 53-46 lead. Overbrook’s Ron Eleby had 12 points, 13 boards.

Dennis Mathews had 22 points and 16 rebounds and Romie Thomas mixed 16 points, five rebounds, four assists. With 0:02 left and the score tied at 67-67, Bob Peterson converted a one-and-one for the win. His first shot missed, but 6-11 Roland "Tree" Grant (21 rebounds) was called for goaltending when he swatted the bouncing ball off the rim. Southern's Elgren Green had 31 points and 12 rebounds.

Dougherty 57, McDevitt 43
  One month after suffering a 75-stitch cut in his right hand, incurred when he collided with a pane of glass in a door in Dougherty’s gym, Bill ‘‘Bear’’ Banks returned to action with a 16-point effort. Kevin Kane added 13 points. McDevitt’s Bob Haas scored 19 points, but was held without a field goal in the second half.
North 55, Judge 51
 
Bill O’Hara scored 14 points, Iggy Brodzinski and Pat McMullen added 12 apiece and Mark Williams had 10 before fouling out with 5:10 left. Thereafter, Vince Morrison scored 13 of his 16 points to draw Judge close.
Bonner 52, O’Hara 48
 
Bob Sabol (15) and Ed Hastings (13) led in scoring and Joe Bonner drove for the clinching basket with just under a half-minute left. Frank Doyle (21) and Tom Ingelsby (12) led O’Hara.
Roman 58, SJ Prep 53
 
Mike Moody collected 20 points and 15 rebounds and got scoring assistance from Larry Storm (14) and Mike Bantom (13). Rich Hinckley (19) and Jack Krutsick (15) paced The Prep.

The Cahillites left behind a 30-30 tie by scoring 17 consecutive points in the last 4:37 of the third quarter. Mike Bantom scored 17 points while Larry Storm and Mike Moody added 16 apiece. Steve Conway (14) and Bill ‘‘Bear’’ Banks (10) led Dougherty.
North 73, Bonner 65 (ot)
 
Mark Williams totaled 17 points and 13 rebounds and hit the second of two free throws with 0:03 left in regulation and Pat McMullen (14) hit six consecutive free throws as OT wound down. Bob Sabol scored 24 points for Bonner, which was whistled for 25 fouls.

John Pindynski shot 15-for-19 at the line en route to 25 points while Mike Bantom (13) and Mike Moody claimed 16 rebounds apiece to lead Roman to its first title since 1943. Jim O'Brien (12) and Larry Storm (11) also scored in double figures. For North, Mark Williams mixed 16 points and 13 rebounds and Iggy Brodzinski scored 15 points.

  On the next-to-last day of the season, visiting Gtn. Academy topped Episcopal to finish 7-3 as Paul Hutter scored nine of his 16 points in a 21-point fourth quarter. Bill Straub led the way with 21 points. On the last day, John Gallagher (21 points) stuck a 25-foot jumper with 0:01 left after taking a pass from Dal Dixon to enable Haverford School to stun visiting Penn Charter, 60-59. The Fords, who also received double figures from John Stoviak (12) and Dixon (11), trailed by 10 points with 2:30 left. Roger Gordon (17) and Jim Manning (12) paced PC. It was the first triple tie in the league’s 46 seasons.
