Semifinals
Doubleheader at the Palestra
Dougherty 46, Judge 43
This game had the craziest finish in CL playoff history. With the score tied,
41-41, Doughertys Dave Black started a slashing move to the basket and it appeared
he was grabbed by Judges Chuck Hiller. A highly controversial intentional foul was
called at 0:09. Black hit two free throws and Cuttino Cat Mobley
hit two more after the Cardinals inbounded the ball. At 0:02, Doughertys Jerry Ricca
was fouled after rebounding a missed three by Judges John McGovern. But Doughertys
fans, thinking the game was over, stormed onto the court and the Cards were assessed a
technical foul. Ricca made one free throw and then Judges Danny Oldfield made two.
On Judges inbound play, Oldfield took a pass from Chris Cervellero and hit the back
part of the rim on a 40-footer. Both teams fans then hurled trash at each other
Doughertys from the floor, Judges from the stands.
Roman 52, OHara 50
Seventh man Bill Shank scored five points in the final 0:23 a
one-and-one, a layup on an outlet pass from 6-9 Marc Jackson (15 points, six blocks) and a
free throw at 0:02 after OHara was assessed a technical for calling a timeout it did
not have. For OHara, John Watson had 22 points and Adonal Foyle had 12 points, nine
boards, six blocks.

points, seven boards and 5-8 Dwayne "Sugar" Hill plucked a game-high 11
rebounds. Dougherty's Cuttino "Cat" Mobley scored 28 points to finish with 42.8
percent of his team's 166 playoff points. The Cards used two sets of twins starters
Dan and Ed Kearney and subs Shawn and Brian Simkins.
