Thank You, Coach!

This page was suggested by a former Bonner player, who wanted
to say some nice things about the influence on his life of retired coach
Mike "Stump" Coyne. O'Hara's George Stratts and Wood's Art Barrett
have also stepped down, and Frankford's Tom Mullineaux will likely
do so soon.
Anyway, this page is open for comments about ANY coach. It does
not have to be the head coach.
     We will publish e-mail addresses.

Congratulations to George Stratts for being named 2003 CL Red Coach of the
year!

As those who have been fortunate enough to play for Coach Stratts know,
he is a legend in CL Footlball. Besides being a great coach, he is a
true sportsman and a fine gentleman. I played for George at O'Hara in
the late 60's, when George was an assistant at O'Hara. My father
died suddenly at age 41, and
I was a  teenager that needed the direction that George so graciously provides to all of his players.
Coach Stratts has been a positive influence on my life both on
the field and in the classroom. The Coach taught lessons- through
football-that are learned for life.

Some say that history repeats itself. In 1990, my brother (who also played at O'Hara) died suddenly
at the age of 33 leaving behind a wife, daughter and young son. The
positive influence that Coach Stratts provided to our family spanned a
generation as George introduced my nephew, at the age of six, to the
sport that he loves and has dedicated his life to teach. Even though my
nephew did not follow in his father's or uncle's footsteps by playing
for O'Hara., Coach Stratts continued to influence and motivate my nephew
in both tangible and intangible ways throughout his elementary and high
school years.

George is the ultimate sportsman and gentleman. He never held my nephew Brian's decision
to attend the Prep against him and George always provided a positive influence on my nephew via football.
George's love for the game and desire to lead and develop student athletes is more important that school rivalry/win-loss records.
This is what makes George the class act amongst coaches for all the years!
For this we are forever grateful.
Thanks Coach,
Stan Tracz

My name is Ryan Ryzinski and i play football for North Catholic. My past season was "Great", although we one only one game i feel like we have accomlished alot. If it were not for "Coach Tim Quinn" and his brother "Coach Ed Quinn" I would still be wondering where to begin to become a better player and person. I played as a freshman here under different coachs two years ago, i mostly played to have fun and win but that was harder then i thought. I looked forward to playin my Sophmore year as a Falcon but was unable to, due to a broken shoulder. When my freind and QuarterBack Joe Waclawski told me to come out for my Junior year i was hesitant due to new coaching and I was wondering if i would actually get a chance to play. But i did any way and thats when i first met Coach Quinn. At first i thought i would not get along with him but that was before i met him. I have played on alot of sports teams and i can not recall a single coach that made me feel more wanted on a team then he did. I play strong side linebacker for the Falcons but did not start on Varsity.
When i started JV games and not Varsity games I felt like i was not good enough but Coach Ed Quinn who I thought did not like me as a player gave me my chance in the Frankford game. After the game, even though we lost i walked over to Coach Ed and gave him one of the biggest "Thankyou" i have ever meant in my life.  I read a summary on the game and my name was mixed up with another player, saying that player had all the plays that i made. That did not bother me cause if it wasn't for Coach Tim and Coach Ed i wouldn't have been there in the first place.  And after reading the article in the Northeast Times it just makes me want to win even more due to the fact that i still think all the players will not forget you and what yous have done for us. So thank you for giving me a chance to show what i can do. I promise next year to be a winning season and not only because i believe in what we can do but also ,I believe in what yous taught us about the game.
"NORTH 30 FRANFORD 7" I M ALREADY CALLIN THE GAME!
