QUARTERFINALS
Doubleheader at Germantown
   Frankford 58, Olney 12: The Trojans were justifiably excited about making their first postseason appearance in the program's 75-year Pub history, but Frankford proved to be far too difficult a nut to crack. Calvin Spires ran 12 times for 139 yards and two TDs before injuring his shoulder while Ervin Goodson, the team's ballboy in '05, scored once apiece on a run and a punt return in addition to hitting four PATs. Mike Reyes scored twice for Olney on returns -- 83 yards with a kickoff, 31 with a fumble.
   Northeast 9, Bok 0: Sean Evans scored the TD on a 9-yard fumble return (forced by Darryl Dawson) and made two significant contributions (catch for 23 yards; spectacular sideline snag that was wiped out only because an interference call produced more yardage)on a drive that produced Tim Freiling's clinching 21-yard field goal. Bok lost a fumble on what must have been the 1-inch line and Kennard Martin recovered in the end zone. Luke Lassiter ran 19 times for 98 yards. Because of its participation in the state AAA playoffs, Bok had been unable to go for the Pub title in 2004 and '05. This year, coach Tom DeFelice had decided to bag the quest for a state title if his team had reached the PL final.
At Gratz
   Dobbins 28, Central 19: This was the first playoff game on the new artificial surface and Darrell "Butta" Brown made it a memorable occasion, coming within seven yards of five receiving TDs. As it was, he scored three while making six catches for 135 yards on passes from Wesley "Jelly" Brown (10-for-15, 197) -- the squad also included offensive handyman Kevin "Peanut" Brown. The Browns were not related. Darrell added a fourth score on a 79-yard kickoff return as well as a trick-play conversion run for 26 points. He was stopped at the 3 and 4 on other receptions. For Central, option QB John Kennedy ran 21 times for 123 yards and three TDs and soph NG Michael Anhalt, making just his second start, logged two sacks and two other TFLs while adding a blocked PAT.
At Northeast
   Washington 43, Bartram 0: The Eagles wound up cruising behind the passing of Clinton Granger (6-for-9, 105; TD to Brian Carter) and rushing of Fateen Brown (16-76). Carter had 99 yards of rushing/receiving and one other TD. Bartram's John "Fudgie" Pratt ran 13 times for 84 yards.

Doubleheader at Northeast
   Frankford 32, Dobbins 6: Though its top two rushers, Calvin Spires (shoulder) and Nate Johnson (ankle), were sidelined, Frankford cruised as Andreas Hudson passed 6-for-11 for 147 yards and three TDs -- two to Ervin Goodson (4-104), the ballboy during the '05 season, and one to Warren Tinsley. Chris Spence returned one of his two interceptions for a 44-yard TD while adding 87 yards on 15 carries. Wesley "Jelly" Brown (6-for-20, 100) passed to Darrell "Butta" Brown (no relation) for the Mustangs' score.
   Washington 19, Northeast 10: Brian Carter, QB Clinton "Juice" Granger and Jay Sloh ran for one TD apiece, but the leading ground-gainer, by far, was Fateen Brown (25-158). Granger's one pass fell incomplete. Devon Wallace and Aaron Hampton made interceptions while three of the tackles made by Oliver Wallace, Devon's brother and fellow outside linebacker, went for losses. Lawrence Kent ran for NE's score, Tim Freiling kicked a 41-yard field goal and Sean Evans notched four catches for 37 yards in addition to five solos among nine tackles. Brennan Shapiro totaled 10 stops.

At Northeast
   Frankford 15, Washington 14: On fourth and goal from a foot, Ervin Goodson hammered an 18-yard field goal high and true through the uprights as the Pioneers went to 4-0 all-time in finals decided by one point. Steven Ortega and Terrell Lewis had combined to drop Washington's punter (dropped snap) for an 11-yard loss back to the 5 with 2:18 left. Washington called two timeouts in an attempt to ice Goodson, who was attempting his first career FG. Frankford's TDs went to Goodson (3-76) on a pass from Andreas Hudson (7-for-13, 130 yards) and Nate Johnson on a run. Josh Burnett and Dwayne Lewis, Terrell's brother, halved 16 tackles. Fateen Brown (21-82) and Jay Sloh ran for Washington's TDs while Rich McPhail and Anthony Bright posted picks.
