Before roughly 6,000 on a waterlogged night, the Eagles stormed downfield on the game's first possession and received a 2-yard scoring run from QB Chuck Hughes right after a 38-yard burst by Jerry Butler (22-188). Mike Kline's 23-yard field goal provided a 10-9 lead with 5:29 left in the game, but Easton answered and the Eagles' last thrust was ruined by a procedure penalty on fourth-and-1 at the Easton 26. An end-zone incompletion followed.

This year, Pub officials created a separate division, AAA, and the champ was ineligible to compete for the title. The Wildcats again were blanked. Nick Perrone added eight stops.

Playing for the second time in three days -- Thanksgiving had produced a 12-0 defeat to 0-11 North Catholic -- and third time in eight, the tired Pioneers were never in it. They rewarded their small contingent of fans (maybe 15; Liberty had 3,000) with a late score on a pass from Ryan Hardy to Maurice Bellinger.

With the timetable for the state playoffs altered, Bok was able to compete in the Pub playoffs (lost to Northeast in quarterfinals
) and make this appearance two weeks later. The Wildcats scored first on a keeper by QB Mike Nelson, but later were victimized by a punt that hit the personal protector in the back and resulted in a huge loss, beginning the slide to defeat. Maurice "Rookie" Goodwin, mostly a receiver all season, carried 17 times for 101 yards. Luke Lassiter managed 18-87 to claim the school record for rushing yards in a season (1,088). Jeremy Morris made nine tackles (one for a loss) and forced a fumble. Terry Lee had a sack and three TFLs among eight stops and recovered a fumble.

This one was played nine days after Thanksgiving, so fatigue was not an issue. The Pioneers, thanks in part to turnovers, fell into a 35-0 hole before posting two fourth-quarter TDs -- Andreas Hudson's pass to J.C. Montgomery, Nate Johnson's run -- against second-line defenders. Tyree Dudley mixed two TFLs with a forced fumble. Liberty's band had more members (230) than Frankford's rooting section.

The Electrons were awarded this berth after Bok, a 30-28 winner, in double OT, during the team's regular season battle, decided to nix the state playoffs in favor of a chance at the Pub's final full-scale title. Anthony Stones, in his first QB stint of '07, passed 6-for-12 for 117 yards and a TD to Jamel "Redz" Haggins. Marquis White ran for the other score.

This outburst raised the Burrs'
season total to 592, breaking the city record of 584 set by Carroll in 2000 (in 13 games). This game was West's 12th. The 585th point came on Tim Carroll's PAT, which followed an 11-yard run by Raymond Maples. Curtis Drake passed 5-for-6 for 169 yards and one TD to Jim Lynch. The Burrs' 23 plays produced 432 yards (18.8 yards).

Rob Hollomon tied the city record for TDs in a season, with 37, and Tim Carroll broke the mark for PATs in a season, with 77. Hollomon needed just six carries to accumulate 243 yards while QB Curtis Drake (10-157) and Raymond Maples (8-112) also ran wild. The trio totaled 512 yards on 24 carries for a 21.3 average. Drake passed 3-for-3 for 98 yards, enabling him to surpass 3,000 yards passing and 2,000 yards rushing for his career (5,100 total). This was his 30th career win (30-2) as a starting quarterback.

Rob Hollomon's 75-yard score on a zig-zagging punt return enabled him to claim the city mark for TDs in a season (38) and he finished the night with 39 (17-yard rush). Hollomon also posted an end-zone interception. Raymond “Syrup” Maples (8-160) roared to an 80-yard TD and that 80th yard, literally, raised his season total to 1,001, allowing the Burrs to become the first city team with three 1,000-yard rushers. West's fans sported "Enjoy the Show" T-shirts. They were the idea of cheerleading coach Mary DeMasi and football assistant Albie Crosby.

A 92-yard scoring dash enabled Curtis Drake to finish the night with 186 yards (nine carries) and claim the city mark for rushing yards by a QB (1,527, Episcopal's Brian FitzPatrick had 1,512 in 2004). Rob Hollomon tied the record for rushing TDs, as his one gave him 35. The two punts by Ed Colon were just his fifth and sixth in the last 10 games (and 11th/12th for the season).

After Raymond "Syrup" Maples ran 8 and 2 yards to draw the Burrs within one in the second OT, coach Brian Fluck decided to go for the win. Curtis Drake was tackled 1 yard short of the end zone on a left-side keeper. Regulation ended 21-21. West hurt its cause by failing to use a last timeout as the first half wound down; that drive was terminated at the 2. With 1:19 left in the fourth quarter, Drake was stopped for no gain on a fourth-and-goal sneak from the 1. West won the yardage battle going away, 460-268, and all three primary rushers topped 100 yards. Maples was best at 19-177 with three TDs. Drake (16-122) and Rob Hollomon (14-102) ran for one TD apiece; Hollomon's gave him 36 via rushes for the season and enabled him to break the city's one-season mark of 35 (by SJ Prep's Pat Kaiser in 2002). His season total for TDs was 42.

Sean McCartney carried 17 times for 73 yards and opened the game with a score on a 6-yard draw. After Selinsgrove went ahead, 7-6, he hit Anthony Narisi with an 8-yard TD pass. All scoring occurred before halftime. Narisi's late sack helped to preserve the lead.

Sean McCartney accounted for 174 yards of rushing/passing (16-74; 9-for-23, 100, TD pass to Anthony Narisi), but the Vikings were pretty much dominated. With the deficit at 14-7, Jefferson fumbled inside its 20 and a Wood recovery would have been major. Jefferson maintained possession, however, and scored on its next two possessions to take command.

After falling behind by 30-0, the Eagles enjoyed some very late fun against backups. Brandon Chudnoff picked up a fumble on the 3 and tumbled into the end zone for a TD, then Will McFillin then kicked his 100th GW PAT (he'd kicked for Ryan as a frosh). Snow started shortly before kickoff and La Salle fell into a 14-0 hole within 6 minutes, 40 seconds. Its TDs came 2:41 apart in the second quarter as quarterback Drew Loughery negotiated 17 yards on a draw and then whipped a 5-yard pass to tight end Steve Jones. In between, Steve Szostak recovered a fumble. Mike Bennett, a left-footer, ignored the slick surface to hit his two PATs, blast a 35-yard field goal to break a 14-14 tie with 53 seconds left in the third quarter, and send all four of his kickoffs to at least the 2 (two sailed into the end zone). Steve Sinnott made eight tackles, with a sack and another TFL among them.

Before an overflow crowd, the Explorers used a 28-0 second half to post an easy win. After passing 10-for-13 for 104 yards and scoring twice on 1-yard thrusts, Drew Loughery gave offensive coordinator Brett Gordon a game ball for his son, Luke Joseph, born two days earlier. Gordon arrived just as the game began and spent the first half upstairs. He ran the second half show at field level. Jamal Abdur-Rahman (21-118, two) and Tim Wade combined for three rushing TDs while Anthony Cognetti (two), Steve Szostak, Pat Resch and Vinny Migliarese recovered fumbles.

Again the white stuff agreed with the Explorers, who gave the Catholic League its first state football title in just Year No. 2 of PIAA membership. With heavy snow predicted (for once, the weather folks were correct), the game was moved up from 7 to 2 p.m. Mike Bennett opened the scoring by hitting a 37-yard field goal and that success enabled him to tie 2003 SJ Prep grad Pat Kaiser for the city record, with 26. Jamal Abdur-Rahman, Tim Wade and wideout Sam Feleccia (55 yards; 21-160), who received extended RB duty after Abdur-Rahman suffered a knee injury, ran for one TD apiece. Drew Loughery passed 5-for-11 for 109 yards. Steve Sinnott (seven tackles) forced/recovered a fumble and Vinny Migliarese intercepted a late pass. The artificial surface was kept relatively decent by a snow plow and guys with shovels. Due to safety concerns, La Salle officials canceled five buses (two for the band, three for other students).
