MARIETTA, PA (August 24, 2004)--For the 10th consecutive year,
SPORTSfever Magazine (pasportsfever.com) has compiled the only annnual
preseason all-state football team in Pennsylvania.
And for the first time, a player was named to both the first-team
offensive unit and first-team defensive unit.
Gateway running back and defensive back Justin King (6-0, 185), rated by
all of the national recruiting publications as the top blue-chip recruit
in Pennsylvania and by Rivals.com National Football Recruiting as the
10th hottest prospect in the USA, is a first-team "Supreme Team" running
back and defensive back.
King is truly the most dynamic player in Pennsylvania. Every time King
touches the football, no matter where on the football field, he's a real
threat to score a touchdown. Every major university has offered King a
scholarship but he has narrowed his focus to Michigan, Penn State and
Florida. Ohio State, Southern California and Pitt are in his secondary
group under consideration.
King's talent will be showcased on September 4 when Gateway collides
with rival Woodland Hills when the SPORTSfever Television Network
presents the inaugural Northeast Sports Group Pennsylvania Kickoff
Classic at Gateway High School.
The 2004 Pennsylvania Preseason All-State High School Football Team,
dubbed "The FAB 85", includes the prestigious first-team "Supreme
Team"
and the top 85 players in Pennsylvania, according to input from a select
group of respected national football recruiting services, coaches from
all levels of football and high school football writers and columnists
throughout Pennsylvania before the high school football season begins.
"In our research and exhaustive due-diligence in compilation of this
only preseason all-state football team in Pennsylvania, SPORTSfever has
been fortunate to benefit from detailed information and analysis from a
wide-range of credible, knowledgeable and respected sources from the
coaching ranks, beat reporters and national recruiting services and
recruiting publications," said SPORTSfever editor Gorden Blain.
"Our staff has seen first-hand these athletes perform in games during
the 2003 season and at camps and combines leading up to the 2004 season.
The 2004 Pennsylvania Preseason All-State High School Football Team
truly and accurately reflects just who are the top prep football players
in Pennsylvania as they begin another season."
The "Supreme Team" is comprised of the 34 top high school football
players in Pennsylvania, all of which are already indentified as
blue-chip major college football recruits. Of the 34 players on the 2004
Supreme Team, 33 have firm scholarship offers from major college
football teams and six have already announced their verbal commitment to
a major college team.
The remaining 51 preseason All-State players in Pennsylvania complete
the "FAB 85", a number selected with the NCAA limit of 85 scholarship
players on a major college football team in mind.
There are 30 "Walk-ons", who warrant preseason all-state honorable
mention status.
Also, the 2004 Preseason All-State first-team Supreme team includes two
juniors on offense and defense. Bishop McDevitt Harrisburg running back LeSean
McCoy, Downingtown East quarterback Pat Devlin, Bishop McDevitt Harrisburg
defensive lineman Jason Kates and Manheim Central linebacker Jeremiha
Hunter have already been told by major college coaches that full
scholarships will be offered during their junior seasons this fall.
McCoy, Devlin and Kates are rated among the top 15 juniors nationally.
Overall, the 2004 Pennsylvania Preseason All-State High School Football
Team, is dominated by beef on the line of scrimmage and the fastest
football players in the state. The team includes the largest number of
offensive linemen (22) who have landed Division 1 scholarship offers in
the 10 years that SPORTSfever has selected the team.
Specialist Jerry Butler of George Washington turned in the
fastest 40
time in the state at the spring combines (4.19) and York High's
Knowledge Timmons, another first team specialist, is the reigning PIAA
State AAA 100-meter champion.
In all, 12 Fab 85 players have already made verbal commitments.
