Amauro's Top "Pub"
Underclassmen Amauro "Amar" Austin is
another of our trusty observers. He is not to be confused with Ruben Amaro,
the Phillies' assistant general manager. Like "Huck" Palmer,
Amauro is a West Catholic graduate. He will make occasional reports on games he sees.
|
Class listed is for '04
season; some guys have transferred, or perhaps
still will.
Here
listed are Amauros top underclassmen (Sophs & Jrs) in the Public League. I will
profile 8
different positions. The top players at each position will be profiled. The other quality
players will be
listed from the best on down:
Note: It is my advice that anyone on this list attend at least 2-3 quality
Camps/Combines this spring
and summer. It would be greatly beneficial to recruitment. Penn State, Virginia and
Maryland have been
known to have some good ones that arent invitationals. Also for skill guys, running
outdoor track this
spring for your school is essential. It will do wonders come fall.
Lamone Fox 5-11 200
Southern Fox rang up 1280 yards rushing this year along with 19 rushing TDs. He
also caught 21 passes for 234 yards. Needless, to say Fox is an offensive menace. He also
excels on defense at LB as the Ram tackling leader and on special teams as a return man (1
TD this year). How much better can he get? Off-season hard work will tell the story as Fox
vows to improve on the Rams 6-5 record.
Maurice Dantzler 6-0 185
Franklin Dantzler should be the feature man on the Electron offense as a senior. He
owns great feet and equally great vision. He also owns great closing speed. He also has a
prime build for adding mass which can happen with Franklins nice facilities. He
rushed for 844 yards and 7 TDs this season.
Akeem
Johnson 5-7 165 Germantown
Sterling
Johnson 5-10 185 University City
THE BEST
Rockeed McCarter 6-3+ 195 Northeast McCarter is probably the top prospect in the League. The super athletic wide-out is todays prototype big, strong & fast. He also owns the hands of a bear, the courage of a lion and that playmakers knack. Top-notch schools should be involved this off-season.
Naftalie
Ellis 6-5 260 Overbrook Ellis is a huge/mobile Tight end whose best days are
ahead once he learns the nuances of the game. He already shows brass and a strong
willingness to learn. Everything else is to follow. D-Is NEED to start taking a peak.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN
THE BEST
Robert Williams 6-3+ 300 DT Dobbins the big guy should challenge as one of the better prospects returning in the Pub. Hes both agile and quick and he has a serious mean streak. Most of his junior season, he played DE which is amazing for a 300-lber. His best days should be a at tackle though, but he must get stronger this off-season to prove thats where he belongs. D-I scouts should be drooling for this big athlete.
Lawrence
Juicy Brown 6-1 315 NG West The big guy may have been the top
Speedboy the last 2 years and will surely be next year. He is both strong and hard to move
which makes for a good nose guard. Hes also very aggressive and possesses strong
leadership qualities I-AAs should surely take a peak at one of the Pubs better
linemen.

DEFENSIVE BACKS
THE BEST
Marquis
Clark 6-1 210 SS M.L King Clark moves all around this season for the Cougars
because of injuries. He went from FS to DE to LB because of injuries. His best position at
the next level should be SS though because of his size and build. Hes still making
progress as a player, but there is much to like already.
Rodreen
Chief Howell 6-0 165 CB/FS Franklin This quick DB has a chance to
be one of the Pubs best in 05. Hes great on coverage and has very good
hands. He also owns the mentality to shut guys down, that great brass that every DB must
have.
Eric
Hairston 6-2 175 CB Frankford The Mastbaum transfer is long and rangy. He
should be one of the better athletes in the League next year and could become a two-way
star. He showed flashes in the late season with the Pioneers.
