Division IA/AA Offensive Player of the Week: Ohio
State WR Corey Brown (O'Hara) grabbed 5 balls for 53 yards and a TD in a
34-24 loss to Michigan State in the Big 10 Championship game.
Division IAA Defensive Player of the Week: NONE
Division II/III Offensive Player of the Week: West Chester QB Sean
McCartney (Wood) threw 16/25 for 180 yards and 1 TD while adding 25 yards on
the ground leading a turnover free offense to victory and into the
semifinals.
Division II/III Defensive Players of the Week: West Chester CB Al-Hajj
Shabazz (Bartram) recorded 3 tackles and returned a interception 76 yards
for a score and DB Blaise Schieler (West Catholic) recorded 6 huge tackles
and broke up 2 passes helping the GoldenRams reach the NCAA D2 semi-finals.
Notes/Tidbits
**Congrats to all the players in FBS programs from the city leagues who are
going "Bowling" this year. This year we have 2 guys who even made it to a
BCS game with Ohio State WR Corey "Philly" Brown (O'Hara) leading the 7th
ranked 12-1 Buckeyes into the Orange Bowl against Clemson. Also Oklahoma DB
Kass Everett (Roman) leads his squad into a showdown in the Sugar Bowl
against #3 Alabama.
**This weekend here at the Linc a few city guys get to play in front of the
hometown crowd as Navy & Army tangle in what always seems to be a great
game.
**In Division III playoff action Mt. Union stormed out to an early 31-0 lead
before Wesley (DE) College stormed back and took the #1 team in the nation
down to the final play of the game in a 62-59 setback.
**In Division II playoff action underdog West Chester University shocked
host Shepherd 28-7 to capture the Super Region 1 title and earn a berth in
the NCAA D2 semifinals where they will travel to Hickory, NC to play
Lenoire-Rhyne this Saturday for the right to advance to the NCAA D2
Championship game in Florence, Alabama. As mentioned earlier CB Haji Al-Shabazz
was huge in this game, including the game-turning, 76-yard interception
return for a TD.
**Congrats to Salve Regina C Floyd Shaffer on being named to the
D3football.com All
East Region 2nd team. Also congrats to Delaware Valley College RB Kyle
Schuberth (Bonner) who was named to the All East 3rd team.

Matt Galambos (Haverford) recorded 5 tackles in a 41-31 loss to Miami.
Division IA/AA Offensive Player of the Week: Arizona
State WR Jaelen Strong (West Catholic) once again dominated on the
offensive end with a 4 reception 142 yard and 1 TD performance in a romp
over Arizona.

Zaire "Bam" Anderson (Frankford) recorded 6 tackles in a loss at Iowa.

2nd career TD in Bloom's narrow defeat to West Chester 41-38 in the

**Weekly Notes
**In Division III playoff action Wesley knocked off #24
Ithaca to make an appearance in the D3 quarterfinals against perennial
power Mount Union.
**In Division II playoff action West Chester jumped out
early on Bloomsburg and held on for a 41-38 victory behind the monster
game of former Wood QB Sean McCartney as well as defensive stalwarts
LB Drew Formica (O'Hara), LB Mike Labor (SJ Prep), DB Blaise Schieler
(West Catholic).
**As of today there will be 13 teams represented by
former city league guys playing in bowl games this year with Rutgers
hoping to be the 14th team if they can secure a win this weekend against
Memphis. Ohio State (WR Corey Brown from O'Hara) can claim a BCS title
berth if they knock off Michigan State Saturday evening in the Big 10
championship game and can stay ahead of #3 Auburn & #4 Alabama in the
BCS standings.
**This week's game of the week in FCS will pit Towson v
Fordham in 2nd round D1AA playoff action with both teams sporting a win
over an FBS program (Towson knocked off UCONN and Fordham knocked off
Temple) earlier this season.
**Congrats to Ohio State WR Corey Brown (O'Hara) being
named to the 2nd team All-Big Ten team by coaches & media and also to
Northwestern S Ibraheim Campbell (SCHA) who was named honorable mention
All-Big Ten. Also congrats to Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong (West
Catholic) who was named 2nd team All Pac-12 by the media/coaches.
**Bethune Cookman's Center Andrew Edourad (Overbrook) was
voted to 1st team All MEAC. Central Connecticut State RB Rob Hollomon
(West Catholic) garnished 2nd team All NEC honors as a RB and Return
Specialist.
**Former City guys in the NFL had huge impacts in their
teams fate this past weekend. Miami Dolphin CB Brent Grimes
(Shippensburg-Northeast) snagged his 4th interception helping the
Dolphins seal a road victory against the Jets to stay alive in the
playoff race. Meanwhile Baltimore Ravens LB Jameel
McClain (Syracuse-Washington) recorded 3 tackles helping Baltimore stay
alive in the AFC North with a 22-20 win over the Steelers. Minnesota
Viking DT Sharrif Floyd (Florida-Washington) collected 2 tackles
including a sack and a QB Hit in the Vikings 23-20 OT win over the
Bears.

**NOTES/TIDBITS
**Congrats to the 6 Division IAA teams with city league guys on their
rosters who were selected for the D1AA playoffs starting this weekend. Maine
(2), Towson (2), Bethune Cookman (1), Sacred Heart (2), Lafayette (3), &
Coastal Carolina (2). Best wishes to all involved in the playoffs on a
successful run and hopefully one of the city guys can hold up the
championship tropy in Texas.
**In Division II Playoff Action last week West Chester behind QB Sean
McCartney (Wood), WR's Eric Brundidge (Northeast), Adam Dempsey, LB's Mike
Labor (SJ Prep), Drew Formica (LaSalle), OL Adam Citko (Wood), OL James
Colivas (Bonner) and DB's Al-Hajj Shabazz (Bartram) & Blaise Schieler (West
Catholic) recorded their first NCAA playoff win in over 5 years and advance
to take on Bloomsburg this upcoming Saturday.
**In Division II Playoff Action last week John Hopkins was upset at home by
Wesley 29-24 ending what was a remarkable season which finished at 10-1.
Wesley has 3 city guys on their roster and will move on to host #24 Ithaca
in 2nd round action this Saturday.

DB Greg Disanto (Judge) notched 2 tackles, including 1 tackle for a
loss, and his first career interception in a huge 41-23 win over
conference foe Gettysburg
Division III Offensive Player of the Week:
Delaware Valley College WR Rasheed Bailey (Roxborough) recorded 3
receptions for 69 yards and 1 TD in 42-17 win over Misercordia in MAC
play.
Division III Defensive Player(s) of the Week: My first tie of the year
goes to LB's Keith Corliss (John Hopkins/Germantown Academy) & Jim
DiLiso (Delaware Valley/Judge). Corliss had 7 tackles including a 1/2
tackle for loss and 1 PBU in a 24-7 win over Centennial conference foe
Susquehanna. DiLiso recorded a whopping 15 tackles in Delaware Valleys
conference win over Misercordia.
Tidbits for the week:
*Ohio State's Senior WR Corey Brown (O'Hara) has
recorded 3 receiving TD's this year, which matches the number he had
last year during an outstanding and breakout Junior year.
*Rhode Island true freshman RB Eerin Young (Imhotep)
made his collegiate debut in their win over Albany via special
teams. May soon start getting carries out the backfield as Rhody gets
into the meat of their conference schedule.
*Shippensburg WR Quran Kent (West Catholic) has
made an immediate impact in his 1st year with the program as a JC
transfer. In 2 games he has 2 starts and 8 receptions for 80 yards
*Temple PK Nick Visco (Wood), who joined the
program as a preferred walk-on, is making an impact as a true freshman,
kicking 2 successful extra points against Fordham and recently being
named the starting PK for the near future.
