Summary:
This contest was dominated by the guard play from the Non-Public squad
namely, Antonio "Scoop" Jardine (Neumann), Jeff Jones (Bonner) and Josh
Martin (Dougherty). All three shot the ball very well. All three nailed
deep threes with regularity: Martin (four threes), Jones (four threes)
and Jardine (six threes). Andrew Pomager, of North Catholic had an
impressive showing displaying his rather impressive ball handling and
passing skills. 6’7 Marcus Morris, one half of a tall twin combination,
once at Neumann and currently at Gratz, impressed as a wing player with
11 points. The Public squad was led with the outstanding shooting of
Kenny Spotwood, 6’ undersized shooting guard from Frankford High.
Spotwood was the Public squad’s MVP with a 23-point performance
highlighted by three successive three-pointers. Hard-playing guard
Malcolm Eleby of FLC totaled 16 points with 4 blocks and three steals.
6’8 Richard Jackson (Neumann) was a factor on the offensive and
defensive boards and snaring 13 rebounds and registering five blocks.
Christopher Edwards, a 6’4 wing forward from Murrell Dobbins Tech, also
had some impressive moments. 6’5 forward Ishmayil McFadden of Parkway
had a good showing with 12 points.

Awards: MVP- Antonio Jardine, Unselfish-Andrew Pomager, MVP- Kenny
Spotwood and Defensive -Malcolm Eleby.

Sophomore Game
Non-Public 138, Public 113

Non-Public
Derrick Rivera 16, Earl Pettis 19, Andrew Jones 8, Nate Edwards 2, Gerald
Henderson 18, Wayne Ellington 26, CJ Honigman 6, Michael Ringgold 18,
Patrick Mansell 9, Blake Rubenstein 5.

Public
Darrin Govens 4, Eugene Moss 4, Matthew Johnson 1, Andrew Ott 6, Lewis
Leonard 18, Sean Gilbert 18, Malik Alvin 29, Janardo Lucas 16, Dan Geriot 0,

Jason Love 8.
Summary:
A whole lot of talent on the floor in this one. From the onset, the
Non-Public squad was in control. The Neumann backcourt duo of Derrick
"DJ" Rivera and Earl "Total Package" Pettis was impressive, as was the
Episcopal duo of Gerald Henderson and Wayne Ellington. Rivera has really
stepped his game up; he is probably moving up the local rankings like
wild fire. He is athletic and plays ultra hard. Pettis was very
impressive as a ball handling wing player, he was also unselfish with
seven assists. Henderson sent the crowd into a frenzy with a high rising
dunk, when half of his body appeared to be over the rim and he flushed
it over a tall player on the other team. Henderson also had a couple of
nice dribble-drive moves. Ellington picked up his play in the second
half when he tallied 20 of his 26 points, highlighted by two deep
threes. The other Non-Pub standouts were the 6’8 Jones who projects as a
small forward, he had some eye-popping moves also and Michael Ringgold a
6’5 wing guard who scored 18 points with an assortment of scoring
methods. The Public squad was led by Malik Alvin (leaving Lincoln for
Gratz) who was really impressive in scoring 29 points. In one memorable
sequence, Alvin plucked Ellington in the open floor and drove for a
contested layup. The tenacious 5’10 lead guard is similar to Kyle Lowry,
he was joined by high-flying Frankford wing Lewis Leonard and Gratz
bullwark, Sean Gilbert who added 18 a piece. Bartram’s Janardo Lucas, a
William Penn transfer, played well as a scoring point guard.

Awards: MVP Wayne Ellington, Unselfish-Earl Pettis, Defensive-Andrew
Jones MVP-Malik Alvin.

Junior Game
Non-Public 115, Public 114

Non-Public
Carlos Monroe 10, Malik Perry 2, Ryan Ayers 21, Harris Mansell 12, Matt Nunn

10, Devon McClendon 20, Scott Rodgers 11, Kassim Green 15, Ryan Smith 5,
Abdullah Moon 4, Andre Glover 4.

Summary:
Ryan Ayers (Notre Dame signee) tallied 21 points, and he is always in
the right position and the baseline jump-shot is automatic. Carlos
Monroe (formerly of Bonner) was a bear inside with 10 points and 8
rebounds. Bilal Benn (formerly of Dougherty) was impressive showing his
scoring skills to the tune of 15 points. Neumann’s David Burton (a late
addition) went to the hole hard for 22 points. Shane Clark was well, Shane
Clark to the tune of 13 points. Cheltenham wing guard Harris Mansell
tallied 12 points. The Pub squad’s best player was 6’3 wing Devon
McClendon who scored 20 points. Dobbins’ Kassim Green, an energy player
added 15. High flying- Kashief "Cadillac" Carr (Southern) had an
impressive 13 points. Chester’s 6’9 Kenny Tribbett with 10 points,
played well also. The game’s top defender was clearly Southern’s Amir
Ryan, a strong guards who loves to "lock up."
