Where There's a Will
Football 2006

Will McGonigle is a junior manager for Cardinal O'Hara's football team, and he also does some grade-school coaching. He's already a legend at O'Hara AND on the site. Coach Danny Algeo was the first to say Will had a chance to be more famous than Hockey Puck ever thought of being. Many have since agreed (smile).

SUMMERTIME PREPARATION
I am hoping to put together a Catholic League preview for the site, and I'm asking for help from
head coaches or assistants chosen by the head coaches. Below are my questions. Please e-mail
me the answers whenever it's convenient. Thanks very much!

1) Which starters are returning to the lineup?
2) Which newcomers (JV guys or transfers) are expected to make an impact?
3) What are the strengths/weaknesses of the team?
4) Has any player really caught your eye as a breakthrough-type player?
5) Do you have any seniors who qualify as Division I or I-AA prospects?

La Salle

For the first time in 22 seasons, the La Salle Explorers begin the season with a new head coach. Drew Gordon takes over for Joe Colistra, who retired after 21 seasons at the helm. Gordon is no stranger to the Explorers as he spent five seasons as an assistant to Colistra. Second-year starter Jr QB John Harrison is hoping to have another year like he did in '05, when he went 175-303 for an impressive 1,757 yard and 21 touchdowns. Joining Harrison in the backfield is SR RB Chris Ashley, who rushed for 728 yards on 165 carries. Newcomer Sr FB Kevin Tamasitis will be the other member of the backfield. SR WR Jack Forster is the other returning offensive starter; he contributed 338 yards on 29 catches for 11.6 Y.P.C. Forster will be joined by Jr WR Joe Migliarese and Sr TE Mike Stahl, and they should help the youth of the La Salle offense. One word can sum up the Explorers' defense: experienced. The D has 8 of the 11 starters returning. Safeties Greg Frantz, who is receiving interest from 1-AA schools along with Forster and Sr CB Rob Saraceni, leads the secondary. Srs Sean Saverio, Andrew Wood and Dom Baker are expected to be three of the four starting linebackers. Jr J.B. Campanella is hoping to be the fourth starting LB. On the defensive line, Sr DT John McBurnie and Sr DE Scott Waters will be the anchors. Assistant Coach Brett Gordon, Drew's son, says, "We have a good blend of youth and experience."
