  This time it was the PL representative's turn to miss posting a perfect record. The 26-0 Railsplitters were spanked as Mike
Barrett (22), Frank Gillen and Joe Russell (17 apiece) handled the major portion of the scoring and Joe McBride and George
Belka split 30 rebounds. Larry Cannon scored 28 points for Lincoln.

At Northeast
Lincoln 84, Roxborough 78
  Larry Cannon shot 21-for-47 en route to 49 points (34 in the second half) to set a PL and city-leagues postseason record. Overbrook’s Wilt Chamberlain had scored 48 points in a ’55 semifinal. Cannon added 15 rebounds while Dave Scheinfeld had 19 points. For Roxborough, the first playoff team in PL and city history with a losing league record (6-8), Walter “Buddy” Harris pumped in 35 points.

Franklin 70, Overbrook 67 (ot)
  Walt Diggs scored 25 points, including five in OT, and Alton Laughinghouse added 23. For ’Brook, Hank Beckett scored 24 points and John Broadwater scored four late points to force the extra session.
At Washington
Central 55, Germantown 47
  John Ashby scored 18 points. G-town’s Greg Parker had 20.
At Roxborough
Dobbins 57, Edison 38
  Jim Bowles (21 points) and Bernie Bull (16) sparked Dobbins to its first playoff victory. Erv “Stu” Staggs (14) led Edison.

Lincoln 73, Dobbins 71
  Larry Cannon scored 29 points for Lincoln, which led by nine points with one minute left before Dobbins (Jim Bowles 25) closed hard.
At Lincoln
Franklin 59, Central 55
  Six-nine Greg Fillmore scored 20 points and unfurled two consecutive dunks to break a tie at 46-46. Alton Laughinghouse added 15 points.

At Southern
Lincoln 74, Franklin 71
 
Larry Cannon poured in 31 points — including 11 in a row in the third quarter — and grabbed 15 rebounds as Lincoln won its first championship and extended its record to 26-0. Dave Scheinfeld added 18 points and Glenn Brenner scored the go-ahead field goal in the final minute on a corner jumper. Cannon added clinching free throws. For Franklin, Walt Diggs scored 24 points and 6-9 Greg Fillmore dominated inside.

  In a late, 14-point burst that won the game, Kevin Flynn scored seven of his 14 points and Joe Hartman added five of his 16. Sub Bill Jillard (10) also scored in double figures. North star Stan Witalec scored 14 points before leaving with an ankle injury early in the fourth quarter.
Bonner 68, Judge 61
 
All five Bonner starters reached double figures — Paul Waclawsky (19), Bill ‘‘Skip’’ McCauley (18), Mike Hauer (11), Ron Branch and Fran Rizzo (10 apiece). Tom Lynch (17) topped Judge.

Mike Barrett and Joe Russell scored 18 points apiece and sub Tom DeMuzio made a clinching three-point play with 0:39 left. More’s John Pierantozzi scored 15 points. The teams shot 38-for-66 at the line.
Bonner 51, La Salle 47
 
Mike Hauer contributed 23 points and 17 rebounds and Ron Branch and Paul Waclawsky split 20 points as the Friars surprised 12-0 La Salle. Joe Markmann (17) and Mike Osborne (13) led the Explorers.

Neumann 68, Bonner 50
 
Frank Gillen, not known as a shooter, sniped 9-for-12 en route to 20 points. Mike Barrett scored 16 points and George Belka grabbed 14 rebounds. Mike Hauer and Bill "Skip" McCauley split 22 points for Bonner.
