Randy's Weekly Honors, '08

   Randy Seidman is a constant at Washington games and this year is again giving out college honors to Philly Guys playing college baseball. Very cool!  Randy graduated from Washington, which his two baseball-crazed sons also attended. Randy is an award-winning producer of televised sporting events and now works for CN8, in addition to doing free-lance work for major networks and The News Gleaner. His career highlight -- producing games, on back-to-back days, when Julius Erving scored his 30,000th point and Mike Schmidt slammed his 500th homer. He may be reached at rseidman9@aol.com.

HOMETOWN PHILLY AWARDS RETURN FOR THIRD SEASON
    As of March 1, 2008, there were 183 former Catholic, Inter-Ac and Public Leaguers on college baseball rosters. These athletes, representing 72 colleges, will once again be recognized for their achievements on the field, with the HOMETOWN PHILLY PLAYER & ROOKIE OF THE WEEK honors. Standout individual and team performances will also be noted, along with the usual array of baseball statistical info. This is by no means a complete list, but it should be pretty darn close, as rosters were checked for 1,535 institutes of higher learning. But just in case I missed somebody playing for Gulfport, Mississippi Community College (which I did not check), please send any mistakes or omissions to rseidman9@aol.com  Comments are always encouraged and welcome! Feedback is a good thing. 
    The following is a list of those eligible players. The first honorees will named in early March. So stay tuned to find out which two players are starting as freshmen on a nationally ranked ACC power. See who left Philly for the greener pastures of Palo Alto, CA and Nashville, TN. Last season, two Hometown Philly players were chosen in the MLB draft (Frank Gailey and Mike Antonini). Who will be this year's breakout players?
