The Philadelphia Little Quakers A
re Pumped for the 2016 Season(Philadelphia, PA, September 12, 2016) The Philadelphia Little Quakers (LQs) embarked on their 64th Season with tryouts held at the William Penn Charter School on September 21, 26 & 28th. The LQs selected a team of 36 (U-14) players to compete in the LQ's abbreviated 4-game season with home games on November 13, November 20 and November 25 at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The lone away game will be played on December 3rd against the Next Level 48 U-14 All Stars from the Chicago area in the inaugural year of the “Next Level 48 U-14 All Star Game”. The Next level 48 U-14 All Stars organization run by President (and former NFL player of the Super Bowl New York Giants) Christian Hopkins will be coached by legendary Chicago-area youth football coach, Ernest Radcliffe of the Chicago Wolfpack Youth Football team. The Next Level 48 U-14 All Star Game will be played at the indoor football facility, Canlan Sportsplex, in Lake Barrington, IL and looks to be an amazing event with many former NFL players in attendance to support the teams. The Next level 48 U-14 All Stars look to travel to Philadelphia for a rematch in 2017.
The Philadelphia Little Quakers were formed in 1953 by a philanthropist and football enthusiast, Robert P. Levy, and the organization offers Philadelphia-area student-athletes a once-in-a-lifetime football experience. Each LQ trip is coupled with an educational experience which will take them this year on a visit & tour of the University of Notre Dame. Throughout its 64-year history, the LQs have provided a “pathway forward” for young student-athletes through football and have awarded over $3.0 million in scholarships to local area high schools. The LQs can count a number of current NFL players amongst their alum; including, most notably: Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons, Ibraheim Campbell of the Cleveland Browns and Corey Brown of the Carolina Panthers. The LQs are funded each year by charitable donations from alum and Friends of the LQs with no mandatory payment from the players or their families. The LQs hold annual fundraising events; such as, “A Night with the Philadelphia Eagles” (November 18, 2016) to raise much needed funds to support their program.
